The Gold in the System
This is why positioning matters.
Questions are always gateways.
After delivering my TEDx talk, a question arose that nobody asked — but that wouldn’t leave me.
If fractures are what bring the gold, and the future I’m envisioning has space for all parts of us, how will the gold arrive if we ever reach it?
As a rule, systems cannot fully accommodate any single human. By their very nature — needing to hold many — there will always be friction with individuals. There will always be expectations, and therefore always fractures to repair.
Because humans are multilayered, repair work brings gold into several layers of the systems we participate in.
Most repair work brings gold into surface layers.
Behavioural change already matters — even when it remains superficial. Changing mindset goes deeper. And so on.
The deeper the gold reaches, the more pliable a system becomes, and the more diversity it can hold.
And yet, there is always room for gold to be brought in — even if only at the surface.
This is how everyone has the potential to contribute to the future.
It is also why those who have done deeper repair work sometimes struggle to find guidance: they are often looking for it in layers they’ve already integrated.
This is why positioning matters.
This is why my work is structured with multiple entry points — and with progression — rather than a single path.
The people I work with are not here to be carried across thresholds.
They are here to locate themselves accurately — and to cross what is theirs to cross.
We all need spaces that are safe enough to grow.
We all need people we can ask questions of, think with, and be held accountable by.
But thresholds must be crossed from the inside.
I’ve learned — sometimes the hard way — that when I do too much of the work, it doesn’t hold.
And the cost is not paid by one person alone.
That is why my role now is not to carry, but to steward.
I open the path. I tend its structure.
Those for whom this structure is relevant can step in where it makes sense for them: in spaces for regular realignment, in immersive experiences and through group or individual guidance.
That’s all for today. Let it settle.
Until next time,
Inês
